Welcome
In August 2009, having finished my contract on the JET Program, I decided to undertake a centuries old Buddhist pilgrimage on the Japanese island of Shikoku: the sacred 88 temples. With a bike borrowed from a friend, a map and little over three weeks before my flight home, I set out uncertain whether I could complete the pilgrimage. This blog contains my diary entries written daily during the trip, photos and comments that I have added later. I have also included brief descriptions of the temples visited and a history of the pilgrimage. Enjoy.
